Two Quite Tasty German Beers

Just finished reading the Wikipedia pages for beer, beer styles, and beer in Germany – all intriguing reads. I’d like to get to the point where I can describe the taste of beer with terms other than “tasty” and “really tasty.” But I’m not holding my breath, since my go-to descriptions for wine, even after drinking it for the past 5 years, are still “smooth” and “very smooth.” :)

The pictures below are two German beers I’ve tried recently. Predictably, I can say that both were “quite tasty.” :)

Hofbrau Munchen and Warsteiner Pilsner

Ordered a Hofbräu München (a pale lager) at one of our favorite South Bay restaurants. Crisp and refreshing.

Hofbräu München

I enjoyed reading a bit of the history of the Hofbräuhaus; really appreciated the insights that wifey has provided as well. Interestingly, we almost had a Hofbräuhaus open up very close to us (less than a ten minute drive) recently, as we saw signs up at the proposed site for many months; alas, it didn’t pan out. Huge bummer.

Had a Warsteiner Premium Verum (a pilsner, type of pale ale, style beer) at home.

Warsteiner. Warsteiner.

Warsteiner.

If we had to choose only one of these to drink again, it would be the Hofbräu München for its crispness.

I still remember wifey’s incredulous reactions after asking her whether she knew about these beers. Apparently, they’re very well known. Oops. Therefore, I should’ve assumed that she knew about them already and then simply asked her, “Can you tell me more about these beers?”

Always Grateful,

~Andy

  1. I’ve tried both those beers before!! I had about 8 different kinds of German beer the last time I visited my school’s local pub. The good thing is that the alcohol was free for me. :-)
